“Life is short and I’m going to die, but I’m alive now! You know? I’m in a rock band! I wanna sing, I wanna jump around. We’re all gonna die, so let’s get drunk and dance. Life’s sad, it’s beautiful, it sucks, it’s awe-inspiring, all at the same time, and we just try to reflect that or capture that in our music.”

“I wasn’t really writing anymore – I was a little, but mostly I was writing music so I thought ‘hey, I should start a band’. I used to have these happenings at my house where everyone would come around and play an instrument. So there’d be a flute or viola or guitar or whatever and we’d have a bottle of whiskey in the middle of the room. We’d play for a couple of hours trying to write and record a song before the night was up. I think everyone in the band was at one point a part of one of those happenings.”
